There are two different family lines of our name, Fitzgerald and FitzGerald. The capitalization of the"G" shows the difference, although a lot of people today do not know this, including some of those belonging to this family.
The capital "G" makes it look like two names pushed together, and actually, that is precisely what it is. There was a distinguished woman in Wales who was a little bit of a ...let's say, she got around. She actually had children by four different men. Fitz comes from her family. The Gerald came from the father of the children. Thus, you have FitzGeralds as well as some other Fitz... families.
The father of our family took his 4 children and moved to Ireland. At some later point a town was named after the FitzGeralds. A family from Fitzgerald became the other line that we know today. So, where do we come from? Wales!

More Jennifer FitzGerald
Do you know a Jennifer FitzGerald? I don't personally know another one, although I have started posting comments on their pages.
A friend said, "People should start finding more unique names for their kids". I agree, but there is one problem with that. You might think it's unique when you name your child, but 6 months down the road you find out that 20 other people in your county alone, named their child, what they thought was a unique name, and it just happened to be the same one. That is precisely how I got my name.
My mother thought she was giving me a unique name, as she only knew one other person, my great aunt, and, like I said, it turned out to be the most used name that year. This is what some call "universal thinking".
Universal thinking is when everyone around the globe is thinking the same way. We believe it to be an individual thought, but we all have it at about the same time. That's another subject though...
Well, now you can come here to my blog and see if you have truly found a unique name. Try out the name counter. That's how I found out there are 390 women named Jennifer FitzGerald in the United States alone.
I am trying to brand myself as "the" Jennifer FitzGerald, although I'm not as old as the one that dated President Bush Sr. But, as far as I can tell, she isn't trying to get her name out there, so we shouldn't have any clashes as to who came first.

I am Jennifer FitzGerald
Just how many of us are there? I never knew till I started working on marketing my site and actually put "Jennifer FitzGerald" in a google search. I haven't even come close to looking at all the listings that come up!
Don't get me wrong, I understand it's inevitable. Jennifer has been the most popular name for over 10 years running, starting the year I was born, and Fitzgerald definitley seemed to get his seed around. But, it is blowing my mind just to see how many of us have quite impressive personalities and influences in the world.
One addition to a little of the confusion is the two family lines being joined, because google doesn't recognize capital letters in their searches. It's all in the "G".
My family line has a capital "G" and there is a completely different family with a small "g". I'll go into greater detail on this in a later blog. Not that I have a lot of extra time on my hands, with raising my baby and getting my crib site up and running, but I will keep up on this too. It's just too intreguing.
In the mean time, check out all our sites or news reels! But make sure when you want to find me, you type in "The Jennifer FitzGerald".
